Program Overview

The WIMNB Cohort is a structured, full-time training program in 8 weeks developed for Indigenous youth seeking hands-on technical skills and career pathways in technology. Delivered directly in community through our mobile makerspace, the curriculum combines practical tools, including 3D modeling, CNC machining, robotics, quantum computing and drone technology, with the Seven Sacred Teachings.

This is a fully supported, paid cohort experience: Every participant receives comprehensive financial support and professional investment throughout the 8 weeks to ensure you can focus entirely on your growth. Participants leave with recognized safety credentials, technical experience, and a strong foundation for future employment or post-secondary education. All programs, learning materials, stipends/support, and certification fees are fully covered by JEDI, the McKenna Institute, and partner organizations.

Who Can Join?

Age Requirement: Indigenous Youth aged 18+ (Applicants aged 16 - 17 are also welcome to apply and will be considered based on seat availability)
Full Commitment: Participants must commit to the full-time, 8-week schedule (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
Experience Level: Complete beginners are welcome! No prior design or technical background required.
Equipment: On-site laptops, equipments and softwares will be provided.

Core Program Modules

Workplace Readiness & Safety Credentials

Complete foundational safety certifications, including WHMIS and Standard First Aid & CPR C.

3D Design & 3D Printing

Learn basic 3D modeling with Autodesk Fusion 360 and practice operating 3D printers, with the opportunity to earn official micro-credentials.

Digital Manufacturing & Applied Arts

Learn digital embroidery, CNC router operations, and laser engraving/cutting to design and manufacture your own products.

Emerging Technologies

Explore emerging fields, including basic quantum computing concepts, robotics, physical computing (micro:bit/B.Board), and drone technology.

Cultural Integration

Engage in weekly sessions and reflection circles guided by Elders and Knowledge Keepers, with learning modules grounded in the Seven Sacred Teachings.
